I don't think I have mentioned it much here, but I participated in the SWAP (sewing with a plan) on Stitchers' Guild. The sewing ran from Christmas time through the end of April, with one purchased item and two previously-sewn items allowed. Also, any number of knitted or crocheted items are allowed. I have three knitted sweaters.
I took most of these photos in early May on a day too sunny to shoot outside. They are pretty dark even after editing, though, and I planned to redo some of them, but I never got around to it am now out of time, so this will have to do. Here is my collection:
I think that every year, I say it is my favorite SWAP ever. I guess that makes sense since every year, my skills are improved, and I have a better idea of what I like to wear. This year, I am especially proud of my three knitted tops and my well-fitting pants. :-)

I have participated in this fun contest before, and this is the first year I feel very happy about every piece. From left to right in the photo above, we have:
.
2. Knitted lace sweater (not yet blogged)
5. Purchased navy tank top (hard to see)
7. Sleeveless sweater (not yet blogged, previously made)
10. Black pants (previously sewn)
11. Red pants
This is a pretty well-balanced wardrobe for me - 5 tops, 3 bottoms, 2 sweaters, 1 dress
Here are some outfit combinations:

Great wardrobe Jenny!! I really like all the pieces you created! I never heard of swap...however, it sounds like a really nice challenge! Especially whenever you're "sewing with a plan", LOL!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Myra. It's a fun exercise. The idea is to get to you a nice wardrobe that all mixes and matches instead of making orphans. My original plan usually goes by the wayside, though, and something else emerges.
DeleteJenny, I love your pieces! And the sweaters - what a nice addition!
ReplyDeletePANTS!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the pattern? I SO want to tackle pants.
Hi, Sarah! The red ones are Vogue 1439 and the black ones are Simplicity 1696.
DeleteI saw even more combos than you modeled. You did a great job picking out pieces that worked well together yet giving totally different looking outfits. The red pants/white tank sweater was my favorite on you. Those pants look amazing with the shoes you're wearing in that outfit. The whole outfit looks like something from a high end store (all your clothes are really nice though - that was just my favorite on you).
ReplyDeleteYep, it was a 15-photo limit for the event, so that's all I took. :-) There are definitely more combos. I'll need to take better pics of the red pants and white top. It's a popular outfit.
DeleteVery nice! The SWAP sounds like a great idea!
DeleteShe makes me hard in that sleeveless floral shirt and blue skirt and that striped dress, wonder what kind of panties shes wearing
