About

Hello!  I'm Jenny.  I'm a wife and mom living in Florida in the "southshore" area southeast of Tampa Bay.

I stay home with my two boys in elementary school.  I love sewing and knitting, and making things in general.  I've been sewing since my mom let me loose on her machine as a kid, and I've been knitting since college.  I'm a sometimes-struggling gardener who loves the idea of flowers and home-grown veggies, but not so much the weeding and mulching in the Florida sun.

I have a podcast, also called SouthShore Handmade, where I talk about what's going on with me creatively.  On this blog, I mostly post finished garments and projects with the occasional inspiration post thrown in.  You can also find the shownotes for my podcast episodes here on the blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. I wrote an e-mail to you some months ago to ask your permission to translate Recital into Danish. Now I try this way. I translate free knitting patterns for a Danish knitting website, and I don't charge anything for it.
You can see all the other patterns I have translated on my knitting site www.strikkeglad.dk.
I know your pattern has been in Knitty, but as that is more than 3 months ago, the rights must have reverted to you.

I hope to hear from you soon.
    Kind regards,
    Marianne Holmen

    1. Hi, Marianne! I am looking for your email and cannot find it to reply, but I do remember reading it. It is fine with me if you translate the pattern. I am thrilled that you like it!

  2. Hi Jenny! I am knitting your Autumn Rain cardigan and was so happy to have reached the shoulders until I realized I didn't understand the short row directions. Are these rows worked between the sleeve markers?/are those markers the begin and end point of the 9 short rows, or do I start and end before and after the sleeve markers? For example row 1 says Patt to m, so am I starting at the front edge, or further in?
This is a lovely pattern, and I'm anxious to finish it. I would appreciate you help.

    Thanks from Gwen.
